The van size calculator

It helps to figure out what  car size you need.
Click on each picture to see a photograph of the item we calculated with (large furniture always disassembled).
Type in the number of items under their pictures and you’ll get the magical number in cubic meters.
This is a *rough estimate*, works best when combining large and small items, but of course, we can’t guarantee all your stuff would fit.
Also, beware of overloading. Most vans can carry up to 1100 kg. With three persons in the cabin, it is not that hard to overload the van.

If you want to move a lot of stuff, a good option is a trailer behind the van, as it can take up to 2 tons.

This calculator gives you a decent idea, but it is the best if you send us pictures of the actual items. Or we can even arrange a visit to make an estimate in person.

– Put big and heavy items first
– Plants need to be loaded at the very last, especially during the cold season
– When sharing the van, mark your items with your initials to prevent mix up
– Labels make the whole process easier for you if you have many boxes (books, food, fragile, items you will need first…)
– Mattress less than 160 cm in width is best transported on top of everything else just under the roof
– Whenever the van is open, make sure it is always supervised
– If you move furniture always have basic tools with you
– Never plug the fridge in immediately after moving, wait at least 5 hours so that the cooling liquid has time to settle
– Load expensive items at last
– Protect your items by using foil, strong boxes and tapes
